Software Engineer, Data

We have an opening for a software engineer who is entrepreneurial and passionate about leveraging large scale data and search technologies (e.g Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Spark, NLP, etc) to build out a unique product.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with a clear vision of how they would like to build things and the technical chops to do just that. If you have always dreamed of working with a clean page and building innovative technology, then this is a gig you should think long and hard about.
We’re looking for fast learners who want to get their hands dirty, quickly; who know when to duct tape and when not to (think like a hacker, ship like a pro); who don’t mind being wrong occasionally; and who are intrigued by the overall space we’re in. You’d be a foundational member of our growing engineering team and have a significant opportunity to influence our culture and growth, as well as immense impact on the company.
Responsibilities

  • Architect, implement, deploy and manage large scale data platform, new data models and data processes in production.
  • Interface with Engineers, Product Managers and Product Analysts to understand product goals and data needs.
  • Support critical data processes running in production.
  • Execute full lifecycle software development in a team setting.
  • Help build and scale our internal and external Python APIs.
  • Design, build and launch new data models and ETL services in production.
  • Support existing data services running in production.
  • Investigate and debug performance and reliability issues across the stack.
  • Integrate software components into a fully functional software system.

Requirements

  • MS/BS in Technical Field, Computer Science or Mathematics.
  • 4+ years of software engineering experience.
  • 3+ years experience in the large scale data space.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the field of distributed systems.
  • 3+ years non-relational data store experience (i.e. Cassandra, Redis)
  • 4+ years experience with object-oriented programming languages and exceptional coding skills in Python, Scala or other languages – Python preferred.
  • Familiar with ETL design, implementation and maintenance.
  • Experience with schema design and multidimensional data modeling.
  • Excellent knowledge of relational databases (i.e. MySQL, Postgres).
  • 4+ years experience in writing SQL statements.
  • Experience working in the Amazon Web Services ecosystem
  • Ability to analyze data to identify deliverables, gaps and inconsistencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Executive Assistant/Office Assistant

Fresno is seeking an Executive Assistant/Office Assistant to support senior executives and keep the office running smoothly. This is a dynamic job that requires a proactive, dedicated and resilient person with very strong organizational skills.   The Executive Assistant/Office Assistant must be enjoy working within an entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven and results-driven. The ideal individual will have the ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication and the ability to maintain a balance among multiple priorities. The Executive Assistant/Office Assistant will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities and confidential matters with discretion.

Responsibilities:

  • Keeps senior executives on-task and on-schedule.
  • Works closely and effectively with the senior executives to keep them well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, an active calendar of appointments and following up appropriately.
  • Completes a broad variety of office management tasks.
  • Prioritizes conflicting needs; handles matters expeditiously, proactively, and follows-through on projects to successful completion, often with deadline pressures.
  • Anticipates needs and details throughout day to ensure smooth schedule and schedule management, including preparing contingencies.
  • Ability to anticipate and understand senior executive’s and general office needs of the business and proactively take ownership of duties before being asked.
  • Keeps senior executives well informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities, and follows up appropriately

Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of Executive Assistant experience, with experience assisting high level executives
  • Excellent familiarity with Microsoft Office Products, e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, and Mac.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal relationship tact and finesse.
  • Have a ‘can-do’ attitude and the ability to learn on the go, as well as be hardworking and resourceful
  • Highly organized and extremely detail oriented.
  • Proactive, resilient and calm while dealing with many moving parts.
  • Ability to anticipate – be two steps ahead at all times to deal with issues before they become problems.

Data Analyst

Fresno is looking for a Data Analyst to join our Content Science team. Fresno is a rapidly growing Santa Monica-based entertainment company. Named for the metaphorical and physical midway point between Hollywood and Silicon Valley, Fresno creates “intelligent content” using data and insights. Fresno works with world’s top content creators to develop premium programming for distribution on Silicon Valley platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube, etc.).

The Data Analyst will be a key member of the Content Science team, partnering across the company to drive better content through data. They will work closely with our studios, business, and engineering teams to create increasingly robust analysis. The ideal candidate will go beyond reporting to develop insights and models that can improve the business. The right person for this role is a curious learner who is hungry to work in a fast-paced startup environment where their work truly makes a difference.

Responsibilities:
• Analyze large volumes of blended data, interpret results, and provide actionable recommendations
• Interface with internal and external creative teams to understand their data needs and translate those needs into analysis and insights that drive learning
• Manage the production of datasets and reports for exploratory analysis using system reporting tools such as Tableau, Excel and Google Analytics
• Partner with engineering and product teams to develop internal data tools and techniques
• Identify and document current datasets, source systems, points of contact, regularly maintain comprehensive data inventory going forward
• To explore new data sets, to geek out on new APIs and new analyses, to boldly go where no one has gone before

Qualifications:
• 3-5 years experience working in data analysis, with a digital media or marketing focus
• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. Economics, Math, Computer Science)
• Fluent in SQL, SPARQL, or other big data querying languages
• Not afraid of Python, NumPy, or SMACK stack
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to communicate technical findings with non-technical audiences.
• Familiar with pop culture and media landscape
